My name is Nik Patel and I am 16 years old and am a Boston-based photographer. I have been doing photography since I was 8 years old and my passion has just been growing since then. On my 8 birthday, my grandfather got me my first camera. When I touched that camera, an inspiration for photography flowed through me. I had the same feeling as Michael Jordan did when he touched a basketball for the first time. Years have passed from this day and things have changed, but my love for photography has not. I have won several awards in photography. For instance, I won a Gold Key in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards in the Boston Globe and was featured in a Sunday edition and I won an all school award in photography and in my schools' newspaper. I would love to continue my passion and branch off and focus on new aspects that I haven’t done much of yet. I take photos not as a hobby, but something I truly love. I hope to travel the world and go to third world countries where they have very little and spread awareness to one day modernize their area and live like us.
